The Platform’s self-service online enrollment system allows employees to enroll at their own pace. If employees have questions during the process, they can immediately access informative videos, documents and information. If they are interrupted and need to take a break, they can save their work and finish enrollment later.

The UFCW & Employers Trust, LLC used the Platform to transform their Open Enrollment process. The Trust turned to Benefitfocus for help with automating their enrollment process in 2009. Previously, the organization had faced significant challenges processing over 68,000 paper enrollment forms for the 150 different classifications of members.

The results of moving to a paperless system were outstanding. 48,446 members were enrolled on the Platform during Open Enrollment. The Benefitfocus call center processed 48,459 member calls and assisted with 32,751 telephonic enrollments. Even members who did not own a computer or have an e-mail address were able to complete the process easily with the help of our friendly call center representatives. At the close of their Open Enrollment, 75 percent of the eligible population had completed the paperless enrollment through the Platform.
